Just a handful of black metal artists get to accomplish what we can call a "master piece". In this album, we can found one of those. It is remarkable how the sutile complexity and the utter beauty on this album work together. I got lucky and I buyed the last copy of this jewel.
Those who are looking for a refreshing not yet extravagant approach to black metal, I completely recomend Jord och aska, beleive me, you will have no regrets. diablomx
This one was a slow burn for me. Repeat listens are essential I think to really appreciate it. That said, if someone asked me to introduce or describe black metal to them, I’d give them this album. They’ll either run screaming or be a fan of the genre for life. Brian3737
Like the land from which this band hails, Heljarkviða is a reflection of its harsh landscape: hauntingly stark and cold, fused with a conflagration of blackened metal savagery.
A phenomenal release steeped in Icelandic history.
